Here's what's new in the store from the last few weeks.
Warwick Pro Series Stuart Zender signature bass
This is one of Warwicks Pro series basses with active/passive electronics. It has a push/pull volume knob, a 2-band EQ, and a balance control, for it's MEC Jazz bridge pick-up, and split coil neck humbucker. Being part of the Pro-series means that it's built with higher quality materials than the Rockbass series, with Brass frets, a tiger stripe ebony fingerboard, and comes with a deluxe gig bag and Warwick accessory kit. As with all Warwicks, it also has Warwick die-cast machine heads, Warwick strap locks, easy access truss rod and back plate, 3D adjustable bridge, just-a-nut III (adjustable height nut), and more. It also has a very uniquely designed body which will get you noticed without being over the top, or ugly as some basses tend to be. For details click here.
Washburn's new Parrallaxe series of guitars is finally available in Canada, and we have several in stock. I've already done a general overview of the line in a previous post, so I will instead give details on two models we just received in stock.
This is one of the single cut-away models, and is one of the least expensive guitars in the series. It has a solid Walnut body, with a dark stain finish, has an ebony fingerboard on a set neck with a contoured neck joint. As with all Parallaxe (non-floyd rose) guitars, it is equipped with exclusive Grover 18-1 locking machine heads, a graphite nut, the Buzz Feiten tuning system, super jumbo frets, and coil tapped pick-ups. This one has one push/pull volume control on each USA made Seymour Duncan humbucker, a three-way switch, and a global tone control, giving a great deal of versatility. It is not a heavy guitar, but it feels very sturdy, with everything on it having a heavy duty, good quality feel. Since it has a standard tune-o-matic bridge, and isn't overly decorated with inlays and so forth, it is also very reasonably priced. And until the end of April, all Washburn electrics including the Parallaxe guitars are discounted 15% off of our regular prices.
With a quilted maple top, a high gloss transparent finish, Stephen's Extended Cut-away, a Floyd Rose bridge, and Seymour Duncan SH2 and TB6 Humbuckers, this guitar is dressed up and ready for action. The extended cut-away gives you ease of access to all 24 of this guitars super jumbo frets, while the ebony fingerboard, and the maple neck give a great playing surface. The Floyd Rose 1000, has a 36mm brass block, and string silencers to give the best sustain and tone possible on a Floyd Rose bridge, while the locking nuts ensure a solid tuning no matter what you do with the Floyd Rose. The Seymour Duncans offer a full sustaining tone, without being muddy, and the coil tap tone pot gives you the option of some chimey clean tones. As mentioned above, all Washburn electrics are 15% off our regular prices, so it's a great time to get into one of these.
Warwick Fortress 5-string bass
This is one of Warwick's rockbass series basses, offering fantastic value for the money. It is equipped with active Jazz/Jazz MEC pick-ups, with a push-pull volume knob to switch from active to passive. It also has a balance and 2-band EQ for a great deal of tonal variety. It is made with a solid swampash body with an open pore transparent red finish, an ebony fingerboard, and a maple neck. As with all Warwick basses, it also comes with Warwick Machine heads, Warwick strap locks, easy access truss rod and back plate covers, the Just-A-Nut III (adjustable height nut), and more. If you are looking for a mid priced 5-string bass, offering some of the best features in the price range, you will definitely want to check out the Warwick Fortress 5-string bass.
This is the highest priced Walden we have received so far. But running for less than $800.00 it's still not expensive. Considering the fact that it is made from all solid woods, with a spruce top and Rosewood back and sides, is equipped with a B-Band T35 pick-up system, and comes with a gig bag, it is incredibly well priced. After the first few Waldens I got in were somewhat disappointing for my high expectations, I wasn't expecting as much from this one, but it really blew me away. It has a very full rich sound, a nice comfortable feel, a refined look, and some great features, putting it right up there with many of our Hagstroms as a great value for money guitar.
Samson Concert 88 16 channel true diversity Wireless Headset
This is a brand new system from Samson replacing one of the Airline 77 systems. It is now capable of changing its frequency range, so that you can run up to 16 of these systems simultaneously without interference, or just avoid cluttered frequency bands when using it alone. The microphone and transmitter system is designed for light weight and comfort, with a convenient head band. If you are looking for a hands free, wireless mic system, the Samson line-up with have something to suit your needs at an affordable price.
Hagstrom Viking Deluxe 12-string Sunburst
This is another semi-hollow electric guitar from Hagstrom, with 2 Hagstrom HJ-50 humbucker pick-ups, 18-1 die-cast machine heads, and 12-strings. For those who don't know, a 12-string guitar uses the same E,A,D,G,B,E tuning as a 6-string guitar, but each of the notes has a second string next to it tuned an octave higher (or in the case of the B and High E, the same octave). This adds a natural chorus effect to the guitar, as if there are two guitars playing the same thing, at the same time. It also adds more volume, brightness, and thickness to the tone. It is especially useful for playing rhythm parts, with big powerful chords, but can also sound very cool when flat picked, fingerpicked, or with any number of other techniques. This particular 12-string, being a Hagstrom, is very nice to play, due to the composite "Resinator wood" fingerboard, H-Expander Truss Rod, and comfortable neck profile. It also sounds fantastic, with a great deal of warmth, and clarity coming from the HJ-50 Pick-ups. The 18-1 machine heads ensures an accurate and stable tuning (which is even more important on a 12-string), and from a value for money perspective, it certainly stands out of the crowd. It will make a great addition to any guitar collection.
